Have your say on NICE guidelines for safe staffing in A&E

Have your say on recommended guidelines on safe staffing for nursing in accident and emergency departments.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) published its consultation on 16 January 2015 staffing for nursing in A&E . and organisations have until the 5pm on 12 February to comment on the recommendations, which focus on safe nursing requirements in type 1 A&E departments.

NHS Employers is aware that safe staffing is an area of great concern and interest to employers. We encourage NHS organisations to read the draft guidelines and respond directly to NICE.

Have your say

To respond to the consultation you will need to register with NICE as a stakeholder. If you are not already registered with NICE you will need to submit a request through the NICE website. Once registered you can complete the consultation proforma.

Next steps

NHS Employers will be submitting a response on behalf of employers. It is anticipated that NICE will publish the final guideline in May.
