Director of Nursing for England, has published an open letter thanking the profession, partners and parents for their support in delivering the Government's Health Visitor Implementation Plan
The plan, published in 2011, set out proposals to improve service provision to new parents and their babies, by growing the health visitor workforce by 4,200 whole time equivalents by April 2015. It called to action health visiting service providers and other key strategic partners to help to build not only the capacity, but also the capability of this important workforce.
In her letter, the Director of Nursing acknowledges the remarkable progress made, and that the growth and transformation of the service is the result of hard work by many stakeholders. Read the letter on Viv Bennett's blog.
NHS Employers has a strong national network of health visiting workforce and service managers. We have worked closely with them over the past three years, providing workforce expertise, guidance and a forum for them to get together and share and learn from each other's experiences as they worked to meet the demands of the 'call to action'. We have also been inspired by their commitment and focus on solutions.
