Junior doctors' payroll resources

doctor holding notes

With the recent results of a survey outlining issues around junior doctors' payroll, we are highlighting a number of our existing resources to help employers address these concerns.

The survey by Royal College of Anaesthetists (RCoA) and the Association of Anaesthetists of Great Britain and Ireland (AAGBI) highlighted a number of areas where trainee doctors were having problems. These included:

  • tax codes
  • increment errors
  • banding errors
  • discrepancies in calculating less than full-time (LTFT) hours
  • issues around protection
  • difficulty understanding payslips.

Although employers are not necessarily able to resolve all of these issues themselves, the list of resources below will help support to address some of those highlighted in the survey.

Further information

Employers may also wish to direct doctors to the BMA website for information on pay structures and understanding pay slips.
