We have produced a suite of new resources to support employers with implementing the charter for specialty and associate specialist doctors and dentists.

The tools are focused on the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the charter in NHS organisations and comprise of the following:

The charter was launched in 2014 to assist employers and SAS doctors in working together. It sets out what employers can expect from SAS doctors, and also ensures that clinicians are properly supported in the workplace and get the recognition that they deserve.

There has been concern that lack of substantial progress in this area could negatively impact SAS doctors and dentists. The leads of the joint negotiating committee for SAS doctors and dentists have issued a letter about the SAS Charter, asking organisations to recognise the major contribution that SAS doctors make to patient care, and ensure they receive the appropriate support and resources to develop personally and professionally.

Produced in collaboration with British Medical Association these resources will help NHS organisations to implement the SAS Charter to demonstrate a commitment to SAS doctors and dentists.
