Agreement reached on transfer of band 1 staff to band 2

NHS Terms and Conditions of Service - 2018

As part of the 2018 pay deal, band 1 is now closed to new entrants. The NHS Staff Council sub group leading on this piece of work has been progressing negotiations on the process for transferring existing band 1 staff to band 2, in line with the framework agreement.

The NHS Staff Council has now agreed the national process for transferring existing band 1 staff to band 2, as well as supporting staff who choose to remain in band 1. The agreement also details a non-consolidated payment to be made to band 1 staff.

Existing resources are already available including key messages for employers and staff, frequently asked questions (FAQs), example job descriptions, and guidance on the key differences between band 1 and 2. The FAQs have just been updated, and will continue to be reviewed.

All resources can be found on our closing band 1 page.
