Resources are now available to help you understand and prepare for the new pay progression framework.
The resources for organisations, managers and staff include:
NHS Employers has worked collaboratively with employers, unions, Electronic Staff Record and NHS Improvement to develop the resources, which are endorsed by the NHS Staff Council.
Separate guidance on the re-earnable process for bands 8c, 8d and 9 will be published in due course.
The new pay progression system
The new system for pay progression will come into effect on 1 April 2019 for new starters or those promoted to a new role on or after 1 April 2019.
For all other staff who were in post before 1 April 2019, current organisational pay progression procedures will continue to apply until 31 March 2021, after which time they will also be subject to the new provisions.
