flu vaccine uptake reaches highest level among frontline staff

Public Health England's latest round of flu vaccination uptake figures show 70.3 per cent of all eligible frontline healthcare workers have received their flu vaccination so far this season - the highest uptake to date.

A total of 739,187 frontline healthcare workers received their flu jab from 1 September 2018 to 28 February 2019, or 34,945 more than in the same period last year.

The statistics confirm that flu vaccination uptake has more than doubled among frontline healthcare workers since the flu fighter campaign began in 2010, when uptake was at 34.7 per cent. From 2019/20, the frontline healthcare worker flu vaccination campaign will form part of NHS England's / Public Health England's (PHE) winter campaign and will no longer be led by NHS Employers.

We would like to congratulate trusts on the hard work they have put into their flu vaccine campaigns and commend the 120 trusts who have already achieved the national target of 75 per cent flu vaccination uptake.
