Consultation on the academy for advancing practice

Clipboard

Health Education England (HEE) is consulting on different standards for the establishment of its new academy for advancing practice.

The academy, which is being set up to standardise routes into advanced clinical practice (ACP), will recognise registered health and care practitioners who demonstrate the capabilities set out in the ACP or consultant practitioner framework. It will also take on responsibility for accrediting ACP education programmes.

HEE is seeking views on the standards for education and training, standards for the equivalence route and the operating framework for the academy.

Practitioners wishing to gain academy recognition will need to demonstrate how they fully meet the capabilities of the ACP or consultant framework.

There will be two routes to achieve this:

  • Successfully completing an education programme accredited by the academy which meets its standards of education and training.
  • Individual practitioners can submit an evidence profile via the academy’s equivalence route that demonstrates how they have met the requirements.

The academy’s standards for the equivalence route and standards of education and training will be implemented in line with its quality assurance principles and operating model.

HEE is consulting on the three documents below, and you can respond to each survey on the HEE website, by using the links.

The consultation is open until 22 April 2019
