Would you like to help shape how the medical workforce is trained? Get first sight of plans for new curricula? Influence changes to meet future service, patient and population needs?
We are seeking volunteers to join NHS Employer's employer reference group: an established professional community that plays a key part in major revisions to the medical curricula.
The Academy of Medical Royal Colleges is working with stakeholders to develop curricula for 2020. As part of this work are seeking opinions from employers to feedback curricula design views to the General Medical Council (GMC). Your engagement in the development phases is crucial to help shape training strategies and programmes which are feasible, practical and sustainable.

Volunteers will have the opportunity to influence changes and help ensure that doctors’ training programmes are deliverable by employers at an operational level.
Our communication channels will also give you a direct line to colleges, national bodies, and NHS Employers’ expertise, as well as networking opportunities, which current members find invaluable.

We are looking for people in the following roles:
- medical education manager
- director of postgraduate education
- educational supervisor
- rota coordinator.
With specialist knowledge in:
- dentistry (all specialties)
- medicine (all specialties)
- surgery (all specialties)
- general practice.
It would also be beneficial to have input from more employer representatives from the north of England.
Volunteers will be asked to contribute to curricula reviews across all specialties by attending virtual meetings and twice-yearly face-to-face meetings.
We use a variety of communication tools, such as Skype, teleconference and email. Members will be fully supported to participate according to their capacity and preferences, however expenses will not be reimbursed.
If you have an interest in specialty areas and only wish to be involved in those, we will honour that.
