Increase in welcome to UK practice workshops for doctors

NHS organisations can now benefit from more local and regional workshops for overseas doctors coming to work in the UK.

The free half-day workshops, run by the General Medical Council (GMC), offer practical guidance about the ethical scenarios doctors may encounter and supports them in their transition to UK practice.

New research carried out into the workshops by Newcastle University has highlighted some of the benefits doctors gain from attending the sessions and as such, the workshops are now being expanded into evening and weekends, with new regional workshops also being introduced. NHS organisations can have workshops delivered on site at a time and date that suits them.

The free workshops can help employers with local inductions and support the transition of doctors from overseas into your trust. They also give doctors the chance to connect with others coming from abroad, share learning from each other and gain additional support.
