Level 2 business administration apprenticeship update

The Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education has rejected the latest proposal to develop a level 2 business administration apprenticeship standard, saying it does not meet the requirements for an apprenticeship.

This means there will be no level 2 business administration apprenticeship standard available when the existing apprenticeship framework is removed in 2020.

Feedback on the draft apprenticeship standard suggested that it was not stretching enough to require a twelve-month programme, including the twenty per-cent off-the-job training requirement and that it was not sufficiently distinct from other apprenticeship standards that are currently available.

NHS Employers’ Chief Executive, Danny Mortimer has written to the Secretary of State for Education, outlining employers’ concerns regarding this decision and has requested a meeting to further discuss the issue.
