Apprenticeship pay negotiations update

The NHS Staff Council has been unable to reach a national agreement on apprenticeship pay.

A statement on the outcome of the negotiations in this area, which cover staff employed under the NHS terms and conditions of service, has been released by NHS Staff Council.

Since the 2018 contract refresh, the NHS Staff Council has been running discussions with a view to reaching a collective national agreement to support local employers and trade unions in England in developing a national agreed rate of pay for apprenticeships.

Unfortunately it was not possible to reach a joint national agreement due to a lack of consensus over what constituted an appropriate rate of pay for apprentices.
