Changes to student data collection

Writing on paper

Health Education England (HEE) is introducing a nationally standardised Student Data Collection Tool from April 2020.

Every year HEE collects a range of data from employers and education providers, including higher education institutions, in order to get a picture of the current and future capacity of student placements and calculate the required tariff payments, often referred to as the 'placement tariff'.

Historically data has been collected in slightly different ways, making it difficult to provide an accurate national picture. To address this HEE is moving to a new electronic student data collection tool that will provide a national standardised set of data. This will include information to verify student placement activity and will also help to inform future workforce supply planning through one system.

Placement providers and employers should have received an email from their local HEE office informing them of the changes and offering opportunities to find out more. If you haven’t received this, or would like to find out more about this work, please email:
