As part of the national work on the workforce disability equality programme, NHS Employers' diversity and inclusion team and NHS England and NHS Improvement are hosting a webinar to provide support to those involved in developing their organisations WDES annual report and action plans.
Taking place on Wednesday 9 September 2020 1.30-3pm, the webinar will:
- highlight the importance of cross-organisational leadership and robust governance
- provide tips on how to develop an effective action plan using a new guide and template
- share insights from a variety of bodies on how to develop a high-quality WDES action plan
- offer guidance on how to involve staff networks and disabled staff in the development of actions, tasks and evaluation.

The WDES came into force on 1 April 2019 and is a set of specific measures (metrics) that enables NHS organisations to compare the experiences of disabled and non-disabled staff. Trusts are required to submit their WDES data spreadsheet and online reporting form by 31 August 2020. The deadline for trusts to publish their 2020 WDES annual report and action plans on their websites is 31 October 2020.
