The Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) has published new guidance making clear the circumstances where employers are able to apply for a fast-track DBS check.
The guidance gives scenarios to help illustrate the instances where eligibility for the check is and is not met. It sits alongside existing guidance.
The fast-track check is a temporary arrangement the DBS have put in place to help the COVID-19 pandemic response. In specific circumstances, where employees or volunteers are recruited to support the pandemic response, employers are able to apply for a free of charge DBS check and a fast-track emergency barred list(s) check. The service is available only where the role would normally meet the eligibility criteria for an enhanced check with barred list information.
