On Wednesday 24 March, NHS Employers held its inaugural NHS and The Prince’s Trust conference to celebrate the successful partnership between the two and showcase the opportunities it presents for the health and social care sector.
Approximately 200 delegates joined the event and heard from a range of speakers who shared their experiences of working with The Prince’s Trust to attract, train and recruit young people into a variety of clinical and non-clinical roles.
Breakout sessions took delegates on a journey, starting with how to recruit from your local community to what support young people might need upon joining the workforce and explored potential career pathways to ‘grow your own’ workforce.
The mainstage speakers highlighted longstanding partnerships with The Prince’s Trust and raised awareness about the reality and benefits young people bring to the workplace. Delegates also had the opportunity to hear how The Prince’s Trust adapted to COVID-19 and supported recruitment to the vaccination programme.
The event closed with a presentation from two inspiring young people, Alex and Bea, who shared their experiences of completing a Prince’s Trust programme and finding a role in the NHS. This highlighted the important role the NHS must play in supporting young people into employment in the current climate.
