The UK government announced today (9 April 2021) that visas for overseas healthcare workers will be extended for one year.
This free and automatic extension will be granted to eligible health and care workers whose visa expires before 1 October 2021.
Visa extensions for health and care workers have been in place since March 2020 and have been extended to include a wider range of NHS professions.
The visa extension will be free of all charges, including the application fee and the Immigration Health Surcharge.
Eligible staff will need to complete an online form and confirm their identity.
Layla McCay, director of policy at the NHS Confederation, commented on the announcement via the NHS Confederation website.
