Volunteers needed to test apprenticeship funding model

Calculator finance

The Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education (IfATE) is looking for volunteers to help them test a new model for how funding is allocated to apprenticeship standards and see how it works in practice.

Following some initial testing with employers and training providers, IfATE is now looking for organisations who train or employ apprentices to take part in the next phase of testing between May and August 2021.

During the process for developing an apprenticeship, IfATE makes a recommendation to the Secretary of State for Education as to which funding band it should be allocated to. Apprenticeships are then approved for delivery once the occupational standard and assessment plan are agreed and the funding band confirmed. The new model has been developed in response to feedback that the current system for assigning funding is not transparent enough and IfATE is keen to see what effect the new model might have on funding levels.

Further details on the proposed model can be found at Gov.UK
