The NHS and the Armed Forces conference 2022 update

Our virtual conference will be returning on the 15 March and will explore the future relationship between the NHS and the Armed Forces.

8 February 2022

NHS Employers’ Step into Health and supporting Armed Forces reservists in the NHS programmes are excited to reveal some of the key speakers and sessions that will feature in our third annual conference. After celebrating the long-term success of the close working relationship between the NHS and Armed Forces last year, and as that relationship has become more evident during the Covid-19 pandemic, we will now be exploring ‘our future together’.

Kate Davies (NHS England and NHS Improvement) and Peter Homa (Director General, Defence Medial Services) will open the conference following a short introduction from NHS Employers’ Chief Executive Danny Mortimer. The Minister for Defence People and Veterans has also kindly agreed to record a video message for attendees.

In the afternoon, our keynote speaker, Major General Paul Nanson, will take to the main stage for what promises to be an inspiring and insightful session on Armed Forces leadership.

 Other highlights include:

  • insight into the reserve forces 2030 review (RF30) and what it means for employers across the NHS

  • good practice kindly shared by NHS colleagues

  • lived experience from Armed Forces reservists and members of the Armed Forces community in NHS employment.

Full agenda to follow soon.
