Agenda for Change pay 2016/17

The government has announced the pay award for Agenda for Change staff for 2015/16 of 1 per cent.

Following the government's response to the NHS Pay Review Body (NHSPRB), the government has accepted the recommendation from the pay review body for a 1 per cent uplift in the value of each of the pay points on the pay spine and for an increase of 1 per cent in the value of the maximum and minimum values of High Cost Area (HCA) payments.

NHS Employers has issued a new pay circular (
Pay and Conditions circular (AfC) 01/2016) to inform employers of the new pay scales from 1 April 2016 to 31 March 2017 for staff whose contracts of employment incorporate nationally agreed pay provisions in the NHS terms and conditions of service handbook (Agenda for Change).

Employers will wish to note that the NHS Staff Council has agreed the following
question and answer in relation to what happens to the incremental date for staff on pay spine point number one who, on 1 April 2015, moved onto pay spine point number two.
