We have put together this selection of national and international campaigns to help health and wellbeing leads to plan your health and wellbeing strategy and activities for the year ahead.

1 to 31 January 2020
Dry January 
Dry January challenges you to go alcohol free for 31 days and aims to raise awareness of the effects of alcohol. Click on the link to download workplace resources and also see our infographic for more information on alcohol awareness.
4 February 2020 World Cancer Day
World cancer day is the ideal opportunity to spread the word and raise awareness of cancer in people’s minds and the world media. This global event takes place every year on 4 February and aims to save millions of preventable deaths each year by encouraging individuals to take action.

Time to talk day is a chance for all of us to be more open about mental health – to talk, to listen, to change lives.

25 February to 3 March 2020 Eating Disorders Awareness week
Eating Disorders Awareness week is an international awareness event, fighting the myths and misunderstandings that surround eating disorders. Awareness is raised to spotlight the impact eating disorders can have on an individual and highlight what individuals, colleagues and employers can do to support someone’s recovery.

No smoking day is to encourage and support smokers to quit the habit.
13 March 2020 World Sleep Day
World sleep day  promotes important issues related to sleep, including medicine, education, social aspects and driving. The aim is to lessen the burden of sleep problems on society through better prevention and management of sleep disorders.

Nutrition and Hydration Week
This global movement aims to focus on nutrition and hydration as an important part of quality care, experience and safety improvement in health and social care settings.

World Oral Health Day
90% of the world’s population will suffer from oral diseases in their lifetime and many of them can be avoided with increased governmental, health association and society support and funding for prevention, detection and treatment programmes. World Oral Health Day offers the dental and oral health community a platform to take action and help reduce the overall disease burden.

On your feet Britain encourages workers across Britain to unite together and participate in a variety of fun and simple activities to #SitLess and #MoveMore at work. The On your feet Britain challenge dares you to convert 'sitting time' to 'standing time' by following some simple changes.

National Walking Month
National Walking Month encourages people to walk more throughout May. Initiatives include, Walk to Work Week and Walk to School Week. 
5 May 2020 Global Hand Hygiene Day Save lives: Clean your hands calls on health facilities to prevent health care-associated sepsis through hand hygiene and infection prevention and control (IPC) action. Sepsis is estimated to affect more than 30 million patients every year worldwide. 
6 to 14 May 2020 Sun Awareness Week With almost half of British people having been sunburnt last year, Sun awareness week highlights the importance of looking after your skin in the sun.

National Clean Air Day is a chance for the whole country to come together and improve air quality through collective action.
8 August 2020 Cycle to Work Day
Cycle to Work Day is the UK’s biggest cycle commuting event. Every year since 2012 we’ve seen thousands of enthusiastic riders hit the streets to celebrate everyday cycling. 
2 to 8 September 2020 Organ Donation Week Encourage people to join the NHS Organ Donor Register and encourage people to share their donation decision. For further information visit the NHS Blood and Transplant website.
9 to 15 September 2020
Know Your Numbers Week
Blood Pressure UK's flagship blood pressure testing and awareness campaign, encourages adults to know their blood pressure numbers and take the necessary action to reach and maintain a healthy blood pressure. This year around 250,000 free checks will be available across the UK.

World Suicide Prevention Day promotes worldwide commitment and action to prevent suicides.

World Sepsis Day 
Sepsis causes approximately six to nine million deaths worldwide every year, most of which are preventable. During World Sepsis Day events are held to raise awareness of sepsis  all over the world. It can range from medical education, to sports activities and fundraising events.

National Eye Health Week 
National Eye Health Week (NEHW) is about healthcare professionals joining forces to encourage more people to have regular sight tests and make lifestyle choices that benefit their vision and general well-being. NEHW raises awareness of how we can improve the UK's eye health, contribute towards a reduction in avoidable blindness and enhance people's everyday lives.
