NHS Employers held its inaugural NHS and The Prince’s Trust conference on 24 March 2021. The virtual event celebrated the successful partnership between the two and showcased the opportunities it presents for the NHS.
Delegates heard from a range of speakers who shared their experiences of working with The Prince’s Trust to attract, train and recruit young people into a variety of clinical and non-clinical roles.
Breakout sessions took delegates on a journey, starting with how to recruit from your local community to what support young people might need upon joining the workforce and explored potential career pathways to ‘grow your own’ workforce.
The mainstage speakers highlighted longstanding partnerships with The Prince’s Trust and raised awareness about the reality and benefits young people bring to the workplace. Delegates also had the opportunity to hear how The Prince’s Trust adapted to COVID-19 and supported recruitment to the vaccination programme.
Throughout the conference, young people shared their stories of how The Prince’s Trust supported them to find jobs in the NHS and the positive impact on their lives and future ambitions. Watch this interview with Hayden, who completed a Prince's Trust programme and gained a role at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust.
