Highly skilled individuals such as top scientists and researchers, who can achieve the required points, will be able to enter the UK without a job offer under the global talent route. The route opened on 1 December 2020 and applies to individuals who are endorsed by a relevant and competent body. Individuals on this route can stay in the UK for up to five years at a time.
An Office for Talent will be set up to help facilitate this route.
The Home Office have also announced that they are looking into a broader unsponsored route within the points-based system, with the intention of allowing a small number of the most highly-skilled workers to come to the UK without a job offer. More details are available on Gov.uk, with engagement set to take place in due course.
