An organisation-wide appraisal process, that focuses on performance and personal development, helps deliver this.  

Simplified KSF - supporting appraisals

The Knowledge and Skills Framework (KSF) is a helpful guide to identify the tools that staff need to do their job. 

Employers and staff have called for a KSF that is easier to use. In response, the NHS Staff Council has developed a simplified KSF that gives employers more flexibility and can be tailored to meet local needs.

Employers may use the NHS KSF or other skills/competancy frameworks, which are in line with the KSF principles (NHS terms and conditons of service handbook - Section 6 (a)(England):6.1).
