Enhanced monitoring of issues in medical education and training

young doctors

The GMC has a dedicated part of its website where they publish data about safety and quality issues in medical education and training. This information has always been in the public domain, but from 31 March 2014 the GMC published this enhanced monitoring activity on a dedicated section of its website in a more accessible format.

The data is fact-checked by deaneries, LETBs and medical schools before publication. Employers involved in training can use this enhanced monitoring database as a resource to see issues in your region, what action has been taken locally and by the GMC, and how the issue is being monitored and its current status. You may also recognise improvements that could be made in your organisation.

The GMC update the data quarterly. Updates are scheduled to take place on:

  • 30 June 2014
  • 29 September 2014
  • 12 January 2015
  • 30 March 2015
  • 29 June 2015
