The NHS Employers organisation is responsible for representing employers' views in national negotiations on the Agenda for Change pay system, that covers over one million NHS staff. We also provide ongoing support and advice to employers who are responsible for supporting staff.
Find out more about how Agenda for Change works.
The NHS terms and conditions of service handbook contains the national agreements on pay and conditions of service for NHS staff other than very senior managers and medical staff.
Latest Payscales Pay Circular (AfC) 1/2015 has details of the latest payscales (effective from 1 April 2015) for those on Agenda for Change terms and conditions in England. Payscales from 2005 to 2014 and other pay circulars relating to Agenda for Change can be found on our Pay Circulars Agenda for Change page.
Job Evaluation (JE) is a key part of the Agenda for Change pay system. JE enables jobs to be matched to national job profiles, or allow trusts to evaluate jobs locally, to determine in which Agenda for Change pay band a post should sit. The NHS Job Evaluation Handbook is the comprehensive guide for NHS organisations on the job evaluation scheme.
