Home Office cancels development of new sponsorship system
The Home Office has announced it has stopped the planned development of a new sponsorship system after exploring the idea over the past year.
This follows a review of its Future Border and Immigration System (FBIS) programme priorities and delivery timelines, which demonstrated that the system complexity and the scale of change required would not deliver the expected benefits in a timely way.
Instead, the Home Office will invest in maintaining and upgrading the long-established sponsorship platform.
The department states that it will continue to explore opportunities for enhancements such as automation and streamlining to improve efficiency and user experience within the existing system.
Other key components of the FBIS programme such as eVisas, electronic travel authorisations (ETAs), and border transformation continue to progress at pace.
