MAC review of salary requirements published
The Migration Advisory Committee (MAC) has published its review of the salary requirements for skilled worker, health and care worker, global business mobility and scale-up routes into the UK labour market.
NHS Employers and selected NHS organisations were part of the consultation and helped to contribute to the review.
Below we have highlighted some points in the review which MAC has recommended, which are:
- salary requirements should be updated on a scheduled annual basis
- maintain the general threshold at £41,700
- a single new entrant rate be set at £33,400
- abolish the PhD discount
- to consider clarifying (either in guidance or regulations, as necessary), that employers are not obliged to sponsor and can choose to prioritise candidates who do not require sponsorship.
Please note, these are recommendations following a consultation on salary requirements for the government to review.
