Dr Sarah McAllister

Sarah McAllister is head of improvement programmes in the quality improvement team at East London NHS Foundation Trust, where she leads large-scale improvement programmes across the trust. 

A mental health nurse by background, Sarah worked mainly in acute inpatient settings before completing a PhD in Health Services Research. She brings broad improvement experience, with programmes spanning patient flow, health equity and inpatient quality and safety, and has published widely in peer-reviewed journals.  

She is a strong advocate for service user involvement in quality improvement and research, and works closely with Experts by Experience, carers and clinicians to design and deliver large-scale change. Sarah regularly co-designs and delivers teaching and training and presents at national and international conferences.
