Louie Horne

Louie Horne BEM is a national nurse leader, equality advocate and internationally recognised champion for the nursing profession. Originally from the Philippines, she has dedicated more than 25 years to the NHS, progressing from frontline nursing to senior executive leadership. She is currently national nursing officer at UNISON and was previously the first Filipino nurse appointed as senior global health fellow with NHS England. 

Awarded the British Empire Medal for services to nursing, Louie has received the Silver Chief Nursing Officer Award, featured in the Nursing Times Impact List, and twice been named in HSJ’s 50 Most Influential Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic People in Health. She is chair of the Filipino Senior Nurses Alliance UK, vice president of the Filipino Nurses Association UK, and public relations officer for the Alliance of International Nurses & Midwives Diasporas in the UK. 

She is a regular speaker, published contributor and awards judge, Louie continues to champion workforce equality and the future of nursing.
