NHS Employers comments on Society of Radiographers’ survey findings

Responding to the findings from the Society of Radiographers' survey on experiences of racism at work, Ben Morrin, chief executive of NHS Employers, said:

“The findings from this survey on the experiences of racism faced by healthcare workers are absolutely unacceptable. Racist abuse has no place in the NHS. No one should have to come to work and experience discrimination or prejudice. Yet the sad reality is that incidents of racism are impacting the wellbeing of healthcare professionals and the care they want and are able to provide.

“Lord Mann’s recent review was a reminder of just how urgently we need to tackle racism. Employers recognise the importance of this challenge. We will be working with colleagues across the NHS including all trade unions, to support them with the recommendations outlined in the review.

“A diverse workforce is the backbone of the NHS, and we must take care of it. Every member of staff deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. We will do all we can to support employers in making the NHS safe for everyone.”
