Join us for our second webinar in a series supporting chief people officers and chief nursing officers to take forward the nurse career progression recommendations agreed by the Secretary of State in April 2025 from the 2023 Agenda for Change pay deal.

The session will help senior leaders understand how our five leadership actions to improve inclusive nurse career progression align with and are reflective of the inclusive practice at the heart of wider workforce policy, including the recently published NHS Staff Standards, NHS Leadership and Management Framework and Lord Mann Review.

The session will also help to make sense of how this work fits with and supports the wider employer actions set out by NHS England on the fairer deal for nursing.

Our speakers

  • Bridget O’Kelly, chief people officer at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and co-chair of NHS Staff Council will share how she is working in partnership to take forward the five leadership actions locally.
  • Dr Ann-Marie Steele, deputy director of education at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust will present her organisation's approach to managing CPD funding for fairer access and strategic investment.
  • Lorraine Wilde, career pathway manager at Royal Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust will explore how her organisation is taking this work forward in practice and in alignment with asks set out in the fairer deal for nursing.
  • Louie Horne, national nursing officer at Unison will share our new interactive tool developed in partnership with our task and finish group, which is designed to help NHS leaders understand how national policy aligns with five leadership actions that support equitable nurse career progression.
