NHS Employers submits evidence to temporary shortage list consultation
NHS Employers has responded to the Migration Advisory Committee’s (MAC) Stage 2 call for evidence on the creation of a temporary shortage list (TSL).
Our submission reflects employers’ evidence on workforce shortages and will support the MAC’s assessment of which RQF level 3-5 roles may require temporary access to the immigration system.
The TSL is a route allowing sponsorship for role below degree level where immigration support may be needed in the short term due to recruitment challenges, while longer term domestic supply solutions are developed.
We provided evidence on several roles, including:
- laboratory technicians (SOC 3111)
- data analysts (SOC 3544)
- A range of estates and facilities roles.
Our submission included information on:
- Current and recent shortages, and the drivers of shortages
- Supply pressures and anticipated future demand
- Actions already being taken by employers to address workforce gaps.
NHS Employers will share details of the outcome of the Stage 2 review once the MAC publishes its recommendations.
