Barry Hutchinson

Senior National Officer with the Royal College of Nursing

Barry is a registered nurse and solicitor who has held a range of clinical and managerial posts in the NHS, private sector and local authority social care, and also practised employment law. Since starting work and joining his first trade union in 1978, he has worked as a steward and safety rep with the Transport and General Workers Union, the Confederation of Health Service Employees, the National Union of Public Employees and the GMB. He has been a trade union member all his working life.

Currently an accredited rep and interim branch chair for the Union Workers' branch at the RCN, he supports RCN members working for the Department of Health and Social Care and its arms-length bodies, and is also the RCN EDI lead for employment relations.
