Health, Safety and Wellbeing Group

The NHS Staff Council’s Health, Safety and Wellbeing Group (HSWG) was established to:

  • raise standards of workplace health, safety and wellbeing in healthcare organisations
  • promote a safer working environment for all healthcare staff
  • promote best practice across the NHS and independent sector.

All documents produced by HSWG are prepared in  partnership  between unions, management and specialist advisors.

HSWG recognises that partnership working ensures best outcomes for patients and staff in protecting their health, safety and wellbeing, and wishes to ensure this guidance is implemented with the same partnership approach.

Membership of the group is made up of NHS Employers representatives, nominated representatives from within the NHS and trade union representatives.
