We would like to take this opportunity to extend a very warm welcome to the London region.

The regional CPO and deputy CPO networks and Social Partnership Forum are established and well-respected peer-led spaces that provide access to learning and sharing of good practice, peer networking, collaborating and creating opportunities to influence national policy and thinking.

This web page will be useful in helping to familiarise yourself with the support that NHS Employers alongside your regional network and regional Social Partnership Forum (SPF) can give you.

A full list of organisations in the London region can be found here.

The network is organised and coordinated by NHS Employers via the national engagement service team.

If you have any outstanding questions, please do contact us and we will be very happy to help.

London CPO network

The network meets monthly virtually and twice a year in person. It is a space for chief people officers (CPOs) to connect with peers from across the region. Through these meetings, members can build relationships, exchange insight and experience, and contribute to national workforce policy and thinking.

The London CPO network focuses on supporting organisations in areas such as building on the pre-existing EDI work, moving forward with the transforming people services (TPS) programme, digital transformation including effective AI management, enhancing widening participation and sharing workforce planning. The network also helps members align with national workforce priorities and respond collectively to key people agenda challenges across the region.

  • Kevin Croft, CPO, Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust

Kevin is the group CPO for North West London Acute Provider Group having previously held the position of CPO at Imperial College Healthcare.  Kevin served for four years as UK president of the Healthcare People Management Association (HPMA) and is the founder of the London HPMA Academy and the creator of the HPMA APPRECIATE people management model.

Laura Bevan, CPO, Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust

Laura took up the role of CPO at Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust in 2020.  Having just completed her term serving as the co-branch chair for the Healthcare People Management Association London Academy, Laura is now the CPO lead for London's Transforming People Services People and Change workstream.  Previously Laura joined West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust in 2002 and from 2014 to 2019, served as deputy HR director overseeing all operational HR services, including a major HR transformation programme, helping to significantly reduce nurse vacancy rates, and improve the trust’s staff experience to a top quartile level.

London Social Partnership Forums (SPF)

NHS Employers, through the National Engagement Service, supports and facilitates Regional Social Partnership Forums across the country. These forums bring together employers and trade union partners to strengthen partnership working on workforce issues, shaping and informing policy, promoting good employment practice and providing support of regional and national priorities.

Regional SPFs feed into the national SPF, which supports partnership working and contributes workforce perspectives to national NHS policy development.

In London, the Regional Social Partnership Forum meets every four months and provides a collaborative space for employers and trade unions to work together on key workforce priorities. Its focus includes workforce planning and the role of NHS organisations as anchor institutions, job evaluation, anti-racism, fair and just culture and supporting and retaining a diverse NHS workforce.

More information on the regional SPF can be found on the SPF website.

Connections with Deputy CPOs in London

We support deputy CPOs across the region by helping to enable peer connections that encourage the sharing of learning and best practice. This includes supporting understanding of the national people policy agenda and helping to align and make progress on shared regional areas of focus.
