NHS Staff Survey results 2025
The NHS Staff Survey 2025 has been published today. Full results are available on the NHS England Staff Survey Centre website.
Overall, the 2025 findings show little movement from 2024, with most scores remaining stable but some key indicators declining.
People Promise results
The survey continues to report against the nine People Promise themes, with all theme scores remaining similar to 2024. Of the 21 sub-scores none have improved and two have worsened:
- Development
- Advocacy (willingness to recommend the NHS as a place to work and receive care).
Advocacy remains a key barometer question. This year:
- 58.05 per cent would recommend the NHS as a place to work, down from 60.79 per cent in 2024.
Scores relating to line management and compassionate leadership have remained relatively stable.
Staff experience
The results highlight several ongoing challenges in staff experience.
Health and wellbeing scores are unchanged, but some indicators have deteriorated:
- Positive employer action on wellbeing fell from 57.5 per cent to 54.8 per cent.
Stress and burnout continue to be significant issues:
- Staff reporting work‑related stress increased from 41.65 per cent to 42.3 per cent.
- Nearly one in three describe themselves as burnt out.
Flexible working scores remain broadly static:
- 57 per cent are satisfied with flexible working opportunities.
Bullying, harassment and violence remain at high levels, though reporting rates have improved.
