On 26 June we will host the second in a series of three webinars, in partnership with the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

This workshop will provide an opportunity to learn more about barring and the legal duty to refer to the DBS.

The topics will help to:

  • Understand the benefits of DBS and your organisation working together.
  • Understand the three different referral routes.
  • Understand when a DBS Barring referral should be made, including when the legal duty is met.
  • Understand what Regulated Activity is.
  • Understand how to make a good quality referral.
  • Have a clear understanding of the consequences of not making appropriate barring referrals and the consequences of being included in one or both Barred Lists.

Should I attend?

The session is suitable for anyone who works in the NHS with responsibility for engaging with DBS processes and legislation within their organisation, including those who:

  • decide on levels of checks to be applied for
  • carry out recruitment or manage staff in regulated activity
  • have responsibility for safeguarding.
