The BMA has confirmed it will open a statutory ballot for industrial action among consultants and SAS doctors in England

Today (31 March 2026), the British Medical Association (BMA) announced that it will open a statutory ballot for industrial action among consultants and SAS doctors in England.

The ballot will run from 11 May to 6 July 2026.

The outcome will determine whether consultants and SAS doctors proceed to industrial action.
