Consultant doctors announce strikes in November
Today (26 October), the British Medical Association's (BMA) consultant doctors committee has announced that its consultant doctors in England will undertake two days of strike action on the 25 and 26 November.
Since July, the Department of Health and Social Care, NHS Employers, trade unions and employer representatives have been engaged in discussions to explore options for resolving the consultant dispute. These discussions followed the BMA’s announcement on 6 July that the BMA’s consultant doctors voted in favour of industrial action.
As agreement on next steps was not reached, the BMA has subsequently moved to strike action.
