Consultation on the draft General Medical Council Order 2026
The government consultation will seek views on the draft General Medical Council Order 2026, which would reform how the General Medical Council (GMC) regulates medical practitioners, physician associates and anaesthesia associates across the UK.
The consultation is also seeking views on the implementation of recommendations made by both the Leng Review and the Mann Review.
The General Medical Council Order 2026 will act as a blueprint for other frameworks such as the Nursing and Midwifery Council and the Health and Care Professionals Council, although bespoke changes will be made to account for the nuances of each regulator’s operations.
As part of this consultation the government is asking for all parties interested to respond to this consultation to help shape the regulatory reforms.
Further information can be found on the government website. The consultation closes on 23 June, to submit a response please access the online survey.
