Employment checks standards updated
As part of an annual review, NHS Employers has updated the six employment checks standards with the latest available guidance and policy changes.
This review includes revisions to right to work checking requirements, such as Home Office guidance around the use digital verification service providers.
Please note, it does not yet include the extension of civil liability guidance. This will be added when the legislation becomes active on 1 October 2026.
Where guidance and policy has remained unchanged we have ensured that web links have been checked, updated or corrected. A list of amendments can be found in the summary updates section at the end of each standard on our website.
We are also in the process of updating our FAQ page and e-learning resource to reflect the changes.
