Supporting locally employed doctors (LEDs) into SAS roles
The SAS eligibility and permanency framework
This guidance details the steps for LEDs moving into SAS roles. It is for LEDs who are currently working in a role that is comparable to the roles, duties and responsibilities of a SAS doctor, who wish to transfer to a permanent SAS contract.
The LEDs must have been employed at the same trust for 24 months or more.
The choice window is now open and closes in March 2027.
