Response to the Fit and Proper Person Test framework

Responding to the publication of NHS England's Fit and Proper Person Test (FPPT) framework, Caroline Waterfield, director of development and employment at NHS Employers, part of the NHS Confederation said: "Providing current and aspiring board level members with access to support, development, peer learning and mentoring is essential in what are often very complex roles in an ever-evolving environment. We are therefore pleased to see the directory of current support published and shared with leaders. "On the detail in the FPPT framework – this goes further than the current test in terms of what it is asking of employers to do and in its application to other organisations, including NHS England and the CQC. The coverage of the previous test has been a long standing subject of discussion and it’s welcome this gap has now been closed. "As employers start to work through the implementation of the new test we look forward to working with NHS England to ensure that the intent of this new approach is met through the framework and process set out." |
