Home Office launches streamlined application for legacy document holders

New guidance and a streamlined application process have been published to help people with settlement (also called Indefinite Leave to Remain or ILR) who still have legacy immigration documents.
The Home Office is encouraging anyone still using legacy documents to make a no time limit (NTL) application and switch to an eVisa. This will not change an individual’s immigration status.
An eVisa can be used to prove right to work and identity, whereas legacy documents cannot. It also provides a more convenient way to access services, receive updates and be used for travel purposes.
Information on the NTL application is on the Home Office website.
Please refer to the right to work checks standard and identity checks standard for guidance on employment checks when an individual has an eVisa.
