Forty-seven organisations have signed up to participate in the Diversity in Health and Care Partners Programme 2023/24. The initiative begins with a face-to-face event in Leeds on 11 October 2023 and a virtual, board members only, masterclass on 8 September 2023.

Led by NHS Employers and the NHS Confederation, the programme has recently been refreshed, sparking an influx of applications. All places have now been filled for 2023/24 and there is a waiting list for the 2024/25 programme.

The programme aims to support leaders in integrating sustainable diversity and inclusion practices, creating culturally appropriate and inclusive services, becoming exemplary employers and service providers, and meeting NHS and external benchmarks

Over the next 12 months, board members, equality diversity and inclusion (EDI) leads, HR practitioners, plus staff network chairs will have access to expert support to help them progress their EDI capability and performance.

Paul Deemer, head of diversity and inclusion at NHS Employers, said:

"In times of austerity and hardship, and with the challenges that the health and social care sector are currently facing, it is imperative that organisations give attention and due regard to the issues of equity, fairness and diversity.

NHS Employers are delighted at the variety of organisations who have joined the Diversity in Health and Care Partners programme this year. By joining the programme, these organisations are showing a proactive and positive approach to addressing inequality, unfairness and discrimination for both their staff and their patients.

We hope the programme will help them to deliver better, and more equitable, services and develop policies, practices and outcomes which others can learn from"

The participating organisations represent a diverse range of sectors within health and care, including NHS trusts, professional bodies, private companies, and charitable organisations
