RCN and Unison consultation outcomes
Royal College of Nursing (RCN) members have voted to reject a pay deal from the government, after UNISON members in the NHS voted in favour of the offer.
Unison consultation outcome
Unison announced that their members have voted to accept the pay offer agreed between non-medical unions and government, which they recommended to their membership.
Full details of the ballot outcome are now available on the Unison website which shows that over 150,000 members voted in the consultation with the following results:
- 74 per cent voted to accept the offer
- 26 per cent voted to reject the offer
- 53 per cent turnout (152,329 votes cast).
RCN consultation outcome
The RCN announced that their members have rejected the pay offer:
- 61 per cent of eligible members voted
- 46 per cent voted to accept the offer
- 54 per cent voted to reject the offer.
Following this outcome, the RCN will now go on strike over the first May bank holiday.
The 48-hour walkout from 20:00 on 30 April to 20:00 on 2 May will include staff working in emergency departments, intensive care units, cancer care and other services not previously involved in the strike action.
