Updated profiles for nursing and midwifery

The NHS Staff Council's Job Evaluation Group (JEG) has today published updated national job matching profiles for nursing and midwifery (bands 4 and above).
The changes made reflect evidence gathered by JEG and feedback received during consultation periods following a request from the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) and Royal College of Midwives (RCM). This request was made to the Staff Council in 2021, where they were asked to review the profiles and ensure that they accurately reflect current nursing and midwifery practice, training, and role development.
The NHS Staff Council has agreed the changes and the updated version of these national job matching profiles can be accessed on the national job profiles page. See also:

Further guidance
- To accompany the updated profiles, JEG has drafted guidance for panellists to support their understanding and use of the updated profiles.
- The NHS Staff Council has also published guidance to accompany the updated profiles. Developed and agreed in partnership, this guidance sets out the principles that should inform all work on job evaluation at local, regional and national level. It will also help organisations mitigate the financial, legal and industrial relations risks associated with poor job evaluation practice and pay inequality.
