This notice advises of the publication of version 43 of the NHS terms and conditions of service handbook. These amendments take effect from 1 April 2021.

The list of amendments are detailed below:

Amended Annex 2: Pay bands and pay points on the second pay spine in England

Revised presentation of the pay structure now all reform to the pay bands is complete. There are no changes to the pay values.

Final transitional pay points in bands 5, 6 & 7 have been removed.

Amended Annex 3: Pay points in England The previous presentation of the pay structure, covering the period 01 April 2018 - 31 March 2021, has been archived under Annex 3.

 

NHS Terms and Conditions of Service (TCS) advisory notice 01/2021

The NHS Staff Council has negotiated changes to the terms and conditions and the list of amendments are detailed below:

 Amended Annex 1: NHS Employers Updates to the list of entities considered employing organisations (England & Wales) for the purposes of the NHS terms and conditions of service handbook.
 Amended Section 1: Pay Structure (England)

Amendments to the provisions for annually earned points.

All pay on promotions provisions have been relocated to this section (from Section 2, England and Section 6, England).

 Amended Section 2: Maintaining round the clock services (England)

Unsocial hours rates for 2018 and 2019 have been removed.

Pay on promotion provisions have been relocated to Section 1, England.

 Amended Section 6: Career progression (England) All pay on promotion provisions, including temporary movements in to a higher pay band, have been updated to take account of Annex 23 and relocated in to Section 1, England.
 Amended Section 15: Leave and pay for new parents (England, Wales & Scotland) New provisions for England, Wales and Scotland which provide for the use of notional full pay where concurrent periods of maternity or adoption leave are taken.
