Responding to the publication of the culture review of ambulance trusts, Danny Mortimer, chief executive of NHS Employers, said:

“This is an essential and careful review by Siobhan Melia of the working and leadership cultures in the Ambulance service.

“It recognises the steps that ambulance leaders and their staff representatives are already taking to improve cultures that have for too long been characterised by poor behaviours.

“At the same time, it rightly challenges the ambulance service to do much better for its staff and patients, and offers clear support to meet that challenge.

“NHS Employers looks forward to working with AACE, trade unions and others to support the delivery of the recommendations.”
